Energy Efficient Cement Plant Solution - Understanding of Cement Plant Process

Though this material is used in every building but how many of you know the process under which this material goes to finally get the right shape? Well very few actually

What is cement?

Cement is fine powder which becomes hard solid when mixed with water. If left for few days, it becomes
more hard and unbreakable. The purpose of cement is to bind the fine sand as well as rough aggregates together in concrete. Hydraulic binder in nature, it has 27 different varieties which can be segmented under five main heads. Cement plants are mainly located in close proximity to the hot spot markets or regions that have ample qualities of raw materials. The main aim of doing this to reduce the cost of transportation.



  • Ingredients: clay and limestone
  • Process: Two-step process

Step 1: Produce clinker from raw materials. Can be semi-wet, semi dry, wet or dry, depending on the raw material state.
Step 2: Produce cement from clinker: Let us understand the process in detail:


1.     Crushing and Proportioning: The significant component in making cement is limestone which is first crushed then sent for pre-blending via belt conveyor. Post this activity, the component is stored with other materials. These components are then extracted in precise proportions taking assistance of electronic weigh feeder. At the end the material is sent to raw mill for further fine grinding.


2.     Raw Milling and Blending: Raw mill is now closed. A circuit ball mill which is equipped with an effective separator. Further the materials are processed for grinding until it is sanded for continuous blending. The next step involves extraction via load cell so that the materials can be fed in kiln heaters.


3.     Pro-processing – this process has numerous series of low pressure drop henceforth the pre heater cyclones are fluidized bed calciner. Here the calcinations start and the components proceed for rotary kiln. Post this, the clinkerization starts where the hot material is transferred to cooler. The clinker is then cooled down, crushed and sent to stock pile.


4.     Burning – Heat the clinkerization using oil, gas or coal. All of these burners are manufactured and fuel efficient like multi-channel performing uniform burning.


5.     Cement milling, storing and Final Packing – The clinker is mixed now. Gypsum is added to make cement more finely grinded. The final material is then sent for blending and storage which is then bagged and sent to our retailers.

Cement is an oldest material which plays significant role in giving nourishment to your building. It is perfect replacement for wood. Let us first understand what cement is. It is finely grained powder which when blended with water becomes solid. It is owing to its strength that cement is widely used in construction projects. At times people mix cement with concrete. But the fact is that both of these are entirely different and henceforth shouldn't be used interchangeably.
